S Steven Crisp 11 months ago We’re looking for ways to deal with excessive Phosphorus in our 54 acre pond. Biochar was one possibility, but I’m intrigued by the Floating wetland Islands (FWIs). A couple of questions. 1) what do you do with the FWIs over the winter? Are they only good for the spring/summer/fall? Do you leave them in the pond over the winter and do they survive? Or something else. 2) have you been able to quantify the benefit from the FWIs? Reduced P levels? Reduced HABs? Over what timeframe? Any insights into best locations for FWIs? Perhaps in tributaries? Perhaps just beyond the inlets of the pond? Have you noted any impact to pond-based plant life around (or under) the FWIs? Would you have any videos of the process of making and installing the FWIs? I’d really like to know more. Thank you!
